Legacy
Ever thought of leaving a legacy? I do, since I had my 4 kids, I often think about what kind of legacy I can leave behind for them , there is a saying " that legacy do not cross 3 generation" but why is that so ? The challenge I think is because our life experience is unique, you see we learn things and knowledge through experience in our life. There is no way that passing my knowledge and experience exactly as I have experience it in my life to my children.
How about leaving my children lots of money ? Well there is another saying - Give a fish and you feed the person for a day, teach the person to fish , you feed him for a lifetime.
Getting them to learn what you have learn is really challenging, so my thoughts is perhaps leaving them with the key points , the golden nuggets of thoughts and teaching.
With recent passing of Singapore's founding father Mr. Lee Kuan Yew - 23 Mar 2015, I remembered he mention in an interaction TV session about why is he not retiring he said that he would wish that he can download what ever is in his mind into a USB drive and download into the younger generation leaders but unfortunately he can't so there are certain things only he can do.
Which is true nobody will be able to experience the human emotion of passing through the exact circumstances that he has pass through while making difficult decision he had mad.
So I think it is still best to leave my children the experience to live through their life but give them the nuggets of learning I have learn to appreciate from this situations.
This has always been how teaching has been done from generation to generation.
This set the beginning of blogging on important lessons for my children and if you would like to my friends whom I hope can benefit from it as well.
